The San Francisco Free Folk Festival is co-sponsored by
the San Francisco Folk Music Club (SFFMC) and San Francisco Folk Music
Center.
The SFFMC, founded in 1949, currently has more than 1,500 members, many of whom gather twice a month to play and share music. The club also hosts three summer musical campouts and Camp Harmony, an annual New Years camp for members. Six times a year, the club publishes "The Folknik," a newsletter that doubles as a rich resource with information about regional and national folk and acoustic music events. For information about the club call 415-661-2217, or visit the SFFMC Web site at www.sffmc.org. The San Francisco Folk Music Center/Plowshares Acoustic Music Center (Plowshares) is a nonprofit concert series that for more than 20 years has been bringing folk musicians to San Francisco for acoustic concerts and workshops. The San Francisco Music Center is also currently raising funds to underwrite a biography of the late, legendary Bay Area songwriter Malvina Reynolds. For more information about the center and its activities, call 415-541-5006. |
