Songs to Get Everyone Singing!
by Bonnie Lockhart
Members of the Children's Music Network lead a
sing-along featuring songs that invite everyone to participate. With
sing-alongs, move-alongs,
finger plays, and singing games. This is a session
for people who love to sing with children of all ages and are looking
for songs that invite participation in lots of ways.
Singer/songwriter Bonnie Lockhart combines
a love of diverse folk traditions with a gift for lyrics both witty
and compassionate, and an active commitment to participatory, community-building
music.
From her first recording, made nearly thirty
years ago with the anti-war folk rock quartet, The Red Star Singers,
to her most recent residencies in Oakland.s public schools, Bonnie
shares the transformative power of song through performance, writing,
recording and teaching. Her songs have been widely anthologized,
and recorded by musicians including Gary Lapow, Charlie King, Robin
Flower, and Sarah Pirtle.
Bonnie gives concerts for children and
families at schools, libraries, festivals and community centers throughout
the west coast. She is past president and long-time board member
of The Children.s Music Network. Dreams, Drums, & Green Thumbs, her
most recent CD, is an affirmation of Bonnie.s commitment to young
children, to the folk traditions that enliven her music, and to the
power of communal music making.
