Traditional Ballads

The ballads I like to share are the old, traditional story songs of the British Isles, full of ritual and magic and great doings. The story is the thing; anyone can sing it, and almost any tune will work. Everyone is encouraged to take a turn singing, and we'll try to sing as many different stories as possible. I like to tell the song's story briefly before I sing, especially with kids, or if the ballad is of Scottish origin and accent. This simple, ancient music fascinates with the details of our ancestors' lives who sent them down to us.
