Introducing the Mandolin Family
Jeff Clark
The mandolin and related
instruments will be reviewed, with some history, and explanation of
some of the similarities
and differences therein.
It’s a pretty big family.
We will look into playing positions, some accessories available, even
safety. Some basic chords, picking techniques, strums and chops offered
up too!
Jeff Clark says “I began playing mandolin several years ago in
a folk trio in Michigan. There were three of us playing guitar, so I
decided to add some different sound. I borrowed a mandolin, re-tuned
it to the top four strings of a guitar, and hated the sound! As soon
as I tuned it correctly and learned a couple of chords, it sounded ‘right’.
I know I learn more in teaching, than any other way, so let’s see
what we can learn together about mandolins.”
