Irish
Ceili
Shauna Gareth & Alameda Ceili
Our Irish Ceili Dancing lesson will start with
a little basic Irish footwork, then take you through a few traditional dances
that
will
have you prancing about, grinning with glee (we hope) & dancing
with nearly everyone in the room. If you don’t pick up the fancy
footwork right away, don’t worry – you will still be able
to do all of the dances. When I say something like “jig setting
step” you just think “hop up & down” or “get
funky & boogie” & everything will be fine! This is a
dance tradition that stems from celebrations of every kind, from weddings & wakes
to livening up an evening at the local pub. We seek & embrace the
tradition, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously!
I coordinate & teach at Alameda Ceili,
along with a small team of teachers, several of whom will be mingling
with the crowd & helping during this class. If you enjoy this class,
you’re more than prepared to join us on Mondays!
