From slave lullabies to the blues to feminist anthems, this participatory workshop teaches folk songs to illustrate themes in the history of women in the U.S.

Estelle Freedman teaches women's history and feminist studies at Stanford University and is a long time member of the S.F. Folk Club. Estelle is also a folk-influenced singer songwriter who recently released a CD, Someday Has Come, which blends melodious guitar and carefully crafted personal tales to celebrate life transitions and recount love, loss, and renewal.
