Put a Little Flash in Your Bluegrass Rhythm
Guitar
Phil Campbell
Bored with Boom Chick? In this workshop we will explore bass runs and
fills as a way to get more out of your old familiar three chords. We
will talk, listen to recordings and have you try it out on your own guitar.
We'll also talk about good taste and how not to overdo it. Suitable for
any bluegrass guitarist who can play G, C and D chords with a flatpick.
Ability to read tablature is helpful but not required.
Phil Campbell first played bluegrass as a teenager in Cincinnati in
the 1970s. He is a professional musician and music teacher in Palo Alto.
Since 1990 he has played in bluegrass bands The Grass Menagerie, Batteries
Not Included, Jammin' Salmon, Mr. Banjo and many others. He loves to
teach, loves to jam and loves to perform. Phil currently performs with
the folk band Hobbyhorse. He co-founded RadioGuitar.com, an internet
