Mazurkas
John Garden

Once tasted, it's easy to fall in love with the mazurka. Enjoy a dozen variants of this passionate dance and its elegant relative the Varsovienna (including many variant North American dancers might never have seen before) and to give the experience a longer life, will have available for purchase books that contain notes on all the variants sampled. All welcome- novices and experienced alike.

John has 22 years experience as a dance teacher, researcher, choreographer, composer and musician. He has displayed, directed, played for and led dancing at more than 1,000 events (including at the Sydney Opera House), produced 8 CDs of dance music, written several dance/music books (e.g. ‘Lost Dances of Earthly Delights’ Volumes 1 & 2, and ‘The Christmas Carol Dance Book’) and has on the way 10 new books tracing the evolution of western European social dance over a period of 450 years. John and his historical-costumer wife Aylwen direct Australia’s leading historic dance academy, the Canberra-based Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy, running weekly beginner and advance classes, monthly public balls and annual festivals, and with displayers presenting shows on requested themes. They are in San Francisco to share their love of dance and make some northern-hemisphere friends.
