How to Build & Play a Washtub Bass
Mugg Muggles — The Man With the Jive

Mugg Muggles, Wizard of the Washtub, will share his 40 years of experience playing the one stringed gutbucket, also known as the washtub bass.  Workshop attendees will assist in assembling an actual, playable musical instrument from a galvanized washtub, a broomstick/mop handle, a screw-eye, an eye-bolt w/ washers, and a length of 1/4" cotton clothesline.

After assembly, participants will be shown various methods to coax actual "notes" from the aforementioned conglomeration, and will then be given the opportunity to play same to accompany pre-recorded examples of several styles of music, ranging from simple folk and bluegrass to blues and swing jazz.
