Mandolin Lick Exchange
Steve Scott
Licks are short musical phrases
that a big part of the language musicians use to improvise. If you
are in a jam and
someone says: “Hey mandolin – take
a break!”, having a nice selection of licks at your command can
help you create a respectable piece of music – even if you have
never played the tune before in your life.
Most mandolinists have their favorite licks. This workshop is for sharing
your licks with other mando folks and to learn new licks to add to your
repertoire. Bring a lick and be prepared to show how you use in actual
practice. And bring a recording device or video camera to keep the licks
you want to work on later.
