Join Franklin Beauregard Davis and the Brassworks and callers James and Cathleen Myers of PEERS for an informal but elegant evening of vintage ballroom dancing. Dance beautiful rotary waltzes, Viennese Waltzes, polkas, mazurkas (or hambos), schottisches, vintage tangos and foxtrots, vintage Swing, English country dances, reels, mixers, and other popular couple and set dances of the 19th and 20th centuries. Dance everything from the beautiful "Congress of Vienna Waltz "to "In the Mood"! All set and pattern dances will be briefly taught or called. Neither partners nor experience required.

The Brassworks Quintet got its start as the Strolling Brass at Great America Amusement Park, playing a variety of lively music for the crowds. The strolling/marching format has remained one of the group's specialties, making us effective entertainers at festivals, parades, street fairs, civic and corporate events. The Brassworks performs a wide range of musical styles: Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Folk and Pop, including Marches, Ragtime, Hot Jazz & Dixieland, Blues, Swing, Rock & Roll, Motown, R&B, Latin, Broadway Show Tunes, Holiday music and Concert works.

With its large classical and popular repertoire, the Quintet is particularly well suited to play for Wedding Ceremonies as well as providing background music for Cocktail Hour and Dinner.

The Brassworks is versatile! With our drummer, the Brassworks Quintet becomes The Brassworks Band, effectively providing a wide range of dance music for Receptions and Dances. We also make a dynamic presentation for outdoor concerts, festivals, Holiday entertainment, corporate events and parties. The Brassworks Band can be sized up to 8, 10, 12 or more musicians as needed. We will march in and make a BIG SPLASH at your next event!

Cathleen Myers is the Dance Mistress of the San Francisco Dickens Fair and the Artistic Director of PEERS (the Period Events & Entertainment Re-Creation Society), which produces full-scale historical costume balls and dance classes almost every First Saturday (for more information about PEERS and its upcoming balls, see her website at www.peersdance.org). A dancer since childhood, Cathleen has researched and taught historical dance in the Bay Area since 1987. With her husband James Eric Myers and frequent teaching partner Alex Lerman, she has dance-mastered at a wide variety of Bay Area period balls, charity balls, science fiction/fantasy conventions, and the celebrated Le Bal des Vampires. In her copious spare time, she also performs occasionally with the Alameda Vintage Dancers and with her own group, the PEERS Flying CirCUS, a historical music, dance and theater performing ensemble, most notorious for their recurring Peerless Music Hall and Theater of the Vampires.
