Come and learn Contra Dance and be ready for the evening dance!

Originating in New England and developed from English Country Dance, these elegant, energetic, and fun couple line dances, with their whirling partner swings, are danced in long sets and taught and led by a caller. With their symmetrical patterns, they have also been called "Dances for Engineers," but are easy for anyone to pick up.

Bob has danced Irish Ceili since 2003, performed it since 2006, and taught it since 2008. Currently, he leads and teaches the Irish Ceili group at Stanford.

He is also an experienced contra dance caller. Determined to convert ballroom dancers to the joys of contra dance, Bob frequently calls contras at Victorian ballroom dances, including Gaskells, PEERS, and Friday Night Waltz.
