Samuel Roland is a singer/songwriter originally from New York but a Bay Area denizen since 1988, he considers himself a Californian at heart. Having grown up in a socially and politically active family, he brings a touch of Phil Ochs to his protest songs, while incorporating a wide range of rock and folk-rock style. Intensely personal and yet accessible to his fans, Roland strives to develop each song as a unique piece. Song of Rolandhood is his first disc and that was followed up by Rolandhood Mon the following year. Now Roland is putting his effort into allowing his music to reach the ears of fellow San Franciscans and others around the world.
