Not every "swing song" has scary chords with extended names like "E flat minor seven," nor do all swing songs require left hand "finger gymnastics." Many songs can be sung and swung and enjoyed when playing your good old "open" chords that you know and love. We'll dig into three swing songs with some detail, working on both right and left hand techniques that will make it sound jazzy and fun! Bring your uke, tuner, pencil, singing voice and both left and right hands to this workshop.
Janet Lenore has been teaching ukulele classes in the Bay Area for the past two years. She first taught guitar while still in high school, so it's been a long comeback to one of her earliest careers. She has taught uke workshops at the Santa Cruz Uke Club's Burning Uke and twice for Sonoma County's "Ukes on the Loose" workshops. She's been a jam leader at both the Berkeley and Alameda Ukulele Clubs. She's a performing singer/songwriter who also plays mandolin, banjo, and percussion besides ukulele and guitar. Her partner, Jeff Davis, will assist at her workshop on the uke-bass.
