Songwriting from the Source (2 hrs.)
Sunday, June 9, 2013, 4:00pm
Music 2 - Room #108
This workshop is for anyone who has ever felt the need or desire to write a song. You don't have to play an instrument, and you don't have to have a good voice. All you need is desire. This is about songwriting as a means of self-expression and self-discovery. It is not a workshop on how to write a commercial hit. We will be using a simple four step process: 1) Find the words (using "uncensored" writing). 2) Find the emotion. 3) Find the chords. 4) Find the melody. Bring a notebook and an instrument, if you play one.
Bill Trainor is a life-long musician, and has been teaching music full-time since 2004. He has developed a simple method to overcome the problems that stop many people from writing the songs they want to write. In Bill's workshops, everyone succeeds. Some write a complete song. Others write a verse, a chorus, or maybe just a stanza or two. But everyone leaves with the tools they need to write an unlimited number of complete songs - songs that come from the heart.
