Traditional Harmony Songs: a Song Swap
Sadie Damascus
Sunday, June 9, 2013, 12:00pm
Music 1 - Room #108

This will be a swap of traditional songs (songs that have come down in the oral tradition and have no known author) on any topic that are particularly well suited to harmony singing. Come prepared to lead a song of your own - Sadie will go around the circle and hopes to give everyone an opportunity to lead a song they bring - or just come to join in on the songs of others.

Sadie Damascus grew up learning learning traditional songs, especially ballads, from records, mainly, in rural Vermont. She collects different versions of the ballads, and never tires of sharing them. She now lives on the Russian River, where she writes, copy-edits, grows herbs, draws, and sings. As The Laughing Lady, she reads humor and comic stories Sunday nights from ten to midnight on Radio KGGV (streaming at www.kggvfm.org) and Wednesdays from five pm to six on Radio KOWS (streaming at www.kows.fm).
