Sing the Everly Brothers
Gene Gibson & Kit Nelson
Saturday, June 21, 2014, 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Jam Room - Room #317
Recall the 50s - the seminal development of rock and roll from its folk and country roots.
The Everly Brothers, along with Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, and a handful of other innovators, pulled country music out of the hills and fields and hearts and became inspirations for The Beatles, The Byrds, The Band, and influenced virtually every rock and country artist to the present day.
"Kit and Gene" (Kit Nelson and Gene Gibson) bring The Everly Brothers back with songs like Cathy's Clown, Wake Up Little Suzie, All I Have to Do is Dream, When Will I Be Loved, and Bye Bye Love. They invite you to sing along and enjoy the steel string guitar picking and close harmonies that are the trademarks of The Everly Brothers.
Kit and Gene are two men who came together as high school teens in the 60's and have since played in numerous bands, both together and separately, and joined once again two years ago with a simple mission: have fun and make good music. Their friendship was forged on the music they love and continue to play. Although this event features music of The Everlys, Kit and Gene's original compositions make up much of their repertoire and are quickly being recognized as worthy of being played alongside the hits.
