Rev Rabia has been singing blues in the Bay area for over 20 years. Rev stands for Reverend, which is fitting because she definitely brings the church to her dynamic, unique brand of acoustic blues. Rev will be joined on harmonica by Keizo Yamazawa. She has performed at the San Francisco Blues Festival (2002), opened for the legendary J.J. Cale (2004), and toured southern Italy with Sonny Rhodes (2005).
I have been performing for nearly 35 years, the last 25, in the Bay Area. My primary style is blues, though I incorporate jazz, folk and good old rock'n'roll. I perform with my husband, Keizo Yamazawa, on lead guitar and back vocals. Some of my major performances include, the San Francisco Blues Festival (2002), opening for J.J. Cale (2004) and touring southern Italy with bluesman Sonny Rhodes. Currently, I have the honor of recording and performing with Mike Wilhelm, founding member of the frst San Francisco Hippy band, the Charlatans. I am also fortunate to have been mentored by the great Delta Bluesmen, guitarist Robert Lowery and harmonica player, Virgil Thrasher. I have spent many years sitting in at Santa Cruz coffee houses absorbing the soul and essence of the blues from these two wonderful artists. Currently I am performing at bay area coffee houses and restaurants that are bringing live blues and Americana music back on the scene.
