The Hambo
by Bob FraleyThe hambo is a traditional dance of Sweden. Like a waltz, the Hambo is a couple turning dance in 3/4 time. But the Hambo turn is twice as fast, so a couple makes a full turn each measure. The Hambo is often danced at contra and international dance groups. Some people find the footwork to be puzzling at first, so we particularly invite those who have learned the Hambo to join us to help others learn the dance.
Bob has been teaching Scandinavian dancing for some time now, and has taught the Hambo at the SFFFF for the past few years. He has also taught English Country dancing, and a variety of international folk dances.
