Scottish Highland
by Kamrin MacKnight & Elheran Francis

Scottish Highland dance is a living dance form with ancient roots, usually done as solos or in small groups.  Although many of the dances have historical or military overtones (e.g., the Sword dance), there are many dances that are done "just for fun."  At this workshop, we will cover basic steps used in many Highland dances and one of the simpler dances utilizing these steps. The movements require hopping and moving the foot on the leg. Shorts, tights or leggings are recommended as well as non-heeled shoes such as ghillies, ballet shoes, aerobics shoes etc.
