Soft Percussion Circle
by Annie Aronson

Introduce people to the frame drum, tibetan bowls, chimes, shakers, etc... Playing in a percussion circle is a great way for both musicians and non-musicians to make music. This circle differs from most drum circles because it focuses on slow meditative rhythms and the skill of listening to others in the circle.

Annie started playing hand drums over 10 years ago when she moved to Berkeley and experienced her first drum circle. Since then she has continued to explore rhythm through studying a variety of drumming styles including Middle Eastern, African and improvisational. She has studied with Mary Ellen Donald, Mika Scott and Glen Velez. She currently specializes in frame drumming, and is the percussionist as well as singer and songwriter for her folk duo, Hobbyhorse.
