Spoons Playing Workshop: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced

No prior experience required. We will go from absolute beginner to advanced spoon playing. Spoons will be provided.

Bev and Jerry:

  • have been playing folk music since 1962.
  • have been singing in schools throughout the southwest since 1981.
  • have had their work published in leading periodicals including "Music Educators Journal," "Sing Out!", "The Folknik," "Folk Music in the Classroom," and "Early Childhood Music."
  • have published a book of their own compositions entitled "Signs of the Times."
  • have recorded three albums: "Old Songs for the Young at Heart," "Are We There Yet?", and "Going Places."
  • play fifteen instruments including acoustic guitar, banjo, Autoharp, Appalachian dulcimer, harmonica, spoons, limberjacks, kazoo, tin whistle, jaw harp, kalimba, and musical saw.
  • have presented more than 300 programs at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City, Oregon.
  • have performed at more than 1400 public, private, and parochial schools throughout California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
  • have presented nearly 10,000 assemblies, classroom, and hands-on programs.
  • have taught more than 500,000 children to play Autoharps, spoons, and limberjacks.
  • have taught an Elderhostel program entitled "American History and the Music of the People Who Lived It."
