Culann’s Hounds

This band is fun to listen to, fun to watch live on stage, and even fun to write about. They latch on to every performance like the venue is burning down and this will be their last chance to play. When they collectively assume that wide-legged stance and rear back into a song, it’s as if there’s a wind machine blowing a gale into there faces. But there is no trickery or gizmos here. Just jolly traditional Irish music played with bite and intensity. They’ve even taken to writing their own songs lately, and I’m pleased to report that they’re every bit as engaging and memorable as their covers. But as I hinted earlier, it’s their live show that really sets them apart. These songs are meant for dancing, and jumping, and cavorting. Three things you’ll want to do when these Hounds are unleashed.
