Cajun and Zydeco dancing are traditional dance forms from Cajun and Zydeco is a rhythmic movement that is very animated. The original Acadians came to Louisiana from Acadia, Canada. Cajun and Zydeco dance is done by couples in closed position, drop hand position, and open position. We do a two-step "quick quick slow" in one direction and then in the other direction - some times with our feet and some times with our hip and some times with our feet, hip and hands. We do waltz, too.

I started Cajun and Zydeco dancing in 1976. At the time we had about three dances a year.
